Brenda Schmitz, a mother of four boys, who was detected with ovarian cancer had passed away back in September 2011. However befors she died, this beautiful lady had planned an unforgettable Christmas gift for her family before she had to say her final bye! Brenda wrote a letter, a month before she died expressing her three wishes but had asked her friend not to mail it until her husband David had fallen in love again.
Brenda had written to Des Moines, Iowa, a radio station “Star” 102.5. Like every year, the station grants one Christmas wish and this it was Brenda’s Christmas wish. The station called Brenda’s husband David and told him that he had received a letter from his wife.
The letter David read had a message from Brenda saying “When you are in receipt of this letter, I will have already lost my battle to ovarian cancer. I told [my friend] once my loving husband David had moved on in his life and had met someone to share his life with again, to mail this letter to all of you at the station.”
Out of her three wishes, her first wish was a complete day of loving and pampering Jayne Abraham, whom David met on October 2012. Brenda wrote “She deserves it, being a stepmother to all those boys,” Brenda wrote. “Make her smile and know her efforts are truly appreciated from me. Thank you, I love you, whoever you are.”
Her second wish was to have a “magical trip” with the entire family. And her last wish was to have a night out full of drinks, food, and fun for the doctors of Mercy Medical Hospital, where Brenda was treated.
Scot Allen, the station manager was heard saying “We’ve been doing the Christmas Wish program for 20-plus years. We’ve never received a wish like this, ever.”
All three of Brenda’s wishes were granted by the station and some local sponsors and the family of eight was sent to Disney World.
