According to the Guinness World Record, Dubai showcased a pyrotechnic display with more than half-a-million fireworks on New Year’s Eve. The Guinness website was seen saying “Ten months in planning, over 500,000 fireworks were used during the display which lasted around six minutes, with Guinness World Records adjudicators on hand to confirm that a new record had been set.”
The firework show was spread across 94 kilometres of Dubai’s coast covering the manmade islands and Burj Khalifa. Here is an aerial view of how the place looked.
The major display of the show took place at the Atlantis Hotel in Palm Jumeirah and Burj Khalifa. The show was arranged by US firm Fireworks by Grucci that used nearly 200 technicians and 100 computers to synchronise the pyrotechnics. The entire show costed nearly $6 million.
Dubai has now the largest man-made building Burj Khalifa staging some spectacular shows since its opening in 2010.
