Residents of Edinburgh are in shock after a toddler recently disappeared and was later found dead. The boy, Mikaeel, was only three years old. He was found dead behind some woods close to his aunt’s home. In a strange twist of events, the toddler’s mother was arrested and arraigned in court in connection with the death. The remains of the boy were found in Kirkcaldy, Fife and were formally identified as being the toddler’s.
More than 600 grieving residents of Edinburgh had attended a memorial service for the boy. Most residents and neighbors who knew the dead toddller described him as a nice boy who was playful and jovial. A neighbor said he always had a smile on his face.
Mountains of flowers were laid on the steps and road leading to the house behind which the woods are. Placards too carried messages of love for the now dead toddler who departed too soon. The tightly-knit community of Edinburgh was shattered as many had helped in the search for the missing boy.
The police and many other agencies were involved in the search for the boy. The finding of Mikaeel may have come too late. Forensic experts combed the areas around the house in Kirkcaldy and the sections adjacent to the woods. Police officers also stood guard around the property.
A local representative of the community in the Scottish parliament commended the efforts by various agencies and the community in helping out with the search for Mikaeel.
Scottish law does not allow the details of the charges leveled against the mother to be released but they will be revealed in court once she makes an appearance. The mother is a known party lover. Her sister has been taking care of her other children since the search for Mikaeel began. Mikaeel was noted to have stopped attending school by his teachers but the mother explained that it was because he had a cold. The aunt said that they were devastated to have lost the boy.
