While women go on to be the pillars of many families, it is good to appreciate them and the work they do. In a recent fake job advertisement for a post of ‘Director of operations’ by Mullen, an advertising company, 24 applicants were interviewed and asked if they could be able to fulfill the requirements of the job, which included no sitting, no vacations, no guaranteed sleep and no payment. There were further requirements to be a good communicator and able to be constantly mobile. The interviewees were shocked, with one of them asking if it was legal to have someone working under such conditions.

In numbers over billions, mothers in the world work tirelessly day in day out without drawing any pay for their hard work. The chores they have to do daily and the struggles they go through are often assumed to be usual and taken for granted by many. Indeed, a congratulatory word or appreciation is rarely spoken in reference to mothers who toil under the responsibilities under their dockets.

Life gets harder for mothers who also have formal employment and those who are living in third world countries or in poor living conditions. Working mothers have to juggle their formal job responsibilities and the tasks that await them at home.
